One of the best books I will ever read

I absolutely love this book! This is one of the books you HAVE to read in your lifetime. I rated 8+ because it tackles racism and bullying, and some kids might not know a lot about that, and will have a lot of questions. Over all, read it. I dare you.

Stellar book with good message

New kid follows Jordan Banks who is going to a new school. He meets some new friends but soon you will see why it deserves the Correta Scott King Award. It has mild language but nothing too crazy. I believe that since this is a comic book it could appeal to younger audiences. If you do decide to get this book for your younger child you might want to read it together and talk about the characters and problems Jordan experiences. There are a lot of pop culture references that will keep their attention. There are some mature themes in this book which is why I would recommend reading it with a child who is younger than 10 or 11. Overall good book, good message and Good concept

GREAT BOOK!

The New kid by Jerry Craft was a great book about Jordan Banks who has to go to a new school for middle school. He wants to go to art school but his mom makes him go to an uptight school. When I read this book I had so many good laughs. but all good things come to an end when Ms. Rawle (her first name is Karen) starts treating Jordan differently than the other kids! She is really hard on him because of his skin color. Read the book to find out what happens next!

This book is amazing. It gives you a different type of view of the struggles of a biracial teen in middle school. You can relate to this book in so many ways. I would definitely recommend this book to any teen or pre-teen.

Great book!

Awesome book! The character Jordan Banks loves to draw, which you will see that he is very good at. And he makes two fun friends- one Liam and the other Drew. You will find some of the parts funny, like when Jordan says "I am batman!" out loud, and a man says "Freak" The only thing that you should look out for is the books deals with stereotypes and race. For example, at one point in the book one of the characters is called an "Oreo."
