Stephanie Myers's Profile
About Stephanie Myers
Stephanie has always been a fan and champion of children's media. After earning a bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley in mass communications and a master's degree in educational psychology and counseling (specializing in early childhood education), she applied and developed her expertise and knowledge within the children's interactive media field, producing many high-quality children’s video games, mobile apps, and other educational interactive content for iconic, world-leading companies and brand franchises like Disney and Jim Henson Co.
Since becoming a mom, Stephanie has become even more enthusiastic about children's media, now watching and reading through her children's eyes. She continually introduces her kids to books or movies that she loved as a child (The Wizard of Oz, Summer Magic, The Parent Trap, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Bridge to Terabithia, Emily of New Moon, The NeverEnding Story) and loves watching them get excited about them, too. She also enjoys crafts, games, scavenger hunts, and volunteering with her daughters' Girl Scout troops.
An avid reader, Stephanie can often be found lost in an historical novel or delving into a nail-biting mystery. Her bookshelf runs the gamut from Pillars of the Earth to The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, The Color Purple, Pride and Prejudice, What Alice Forgot, and countless YA book series and cozy mysteries. Some of her favorite books to read to her children have been Love You Forever, Zoey and Sassafras: Monsters and Mold, The Big Pumpkin, The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey, and Miss Rumphius.
Stephanie also has had a lifelong passion for TV and movies. While there are too many favorites (in multiple categories) to list, her favorites include Grease, The Sound of Music, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, All American, Parks and Rec, Under the Tuscan Sun, Chocolat, Love Jones, and One Tree Hill. Some of the screen content she's enjoyed with her kids more recently: The Addams Family, Bluey, Wild Kratts, Hamilton the Musical, Upside-Down Magic, The Floor Is Lava, and Green Eggs and Ham. She's thrilled for the opportunity to put all of her reading, TV watching, and devotion to storytelling and media to good use at Common Sense Media. Stephanie is proud to be part of an organization that supports parents as they navigate the wide range of media content available to children today.
