Patricia Tauzer's Profile
About Patricia Tauzer
Patricia, otherwise called Patt or Gramma Sweet P, is a retired Montessori teacher and community college writing instructor who thinks she's found the perfect spot reviewing books for Common Sense. She grew up in a small California farming town where televisions were few and trips to the library a weekly event. Since then, the town has grown, and so has she. She has a master's in English, has raised two children (one a writer, the other an educator), and now spends as much time as possible with her three granddaughters. As a kid, Patt remembers reading Nancy Drew and the Bobbsey Twins books, Heidi, Little House on the Prairie, and Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates. Most of Patt's teaching career was spent with 9- to 12-year-olds, and she loves reviewing books for that age group, especially those that have strong characters and rich, poetic language with a bit of humor thrown in. The best part of writing reviews is that she gets to keep reading kids' books. And she loves asking her grandgirls for their opinions and reactions. Patt thinks it's important to strengthen each individual's voice and is concerned about how media is impacting all our lives, especially those of our children. She loves writing for an organization that works toward that same goal.
