About Diondra K. Brown
Diondra's unique understanding of the development of children's emotional intelligence and the importance of exposure to diverse media representation has equipped her with the skills to be a thoughtful media reviewer. After earning her bachelor's degree in psychology and human development and family studies from the University of Connecticut, she went on to obtain a master's degree in clinical social work from the University of Pennsylvania. She's spent years studying child development and mental health and integrated children's media in her interventions with clients in her previous work as a child and family psychotherapist with the University of Pennsylvania Health System. She began to transfer her knowledge and skills into the world of children's media in 2020 by serving as a consultant for global children's entertainment companies. She now works full-time on Twin Cities PBS' Ready to Learn team as the Child Development and Education Manager, creating content and curriculum for young viewers. She's dedicated to uplifting diverse stories and storytellers that will inspire children for generations to come. Diondra's love for books was ignited in childhood and has never wavered. Some of her favorites include Corduroy, Charlotte's Web, The Giving Tree, and Not Quite Snow White.
