About Debbie Gorrell

Debbie is a freelance writer and editor with over 14 years of experience as a mathematics and science content developer. She works on a wide variety of projects, including textbook customization, assessment development, and the production of digital learning tools. Her most recent projects have focused on aligning K-12 curriculum with Common Core Mathematics and Next Generation Science Standards. Before becoming a freelancer, she worked as a science curriculum consultant and teacher for gifted students in Baltimore City Schools and as an education specialist at the Maryland Science Center. She has a bachelor’s of science degree in biology and is passionate about creating exciting, hands-on learning experiences for kids of all ages. She has two young children who inspire her work and her commitment to the responsible use of media. When she's not developing content or reviewing apps, she enjoys running 5Ks, spending time with her kids, inventing new recipes, and reading about the latest developments for using technology in education.
