About Amanda Bindel

Before she began reviewing for Common Sense Media, Amanda checked the site religiously to research movies, television shows, and apps for her daughters. When her oldest began reading at a pace she could no longer preview, she started looking to the reviews for books, too. Amanda’s passion for technology grew during her years recruiting software developers for Austin’s dot-com boom, and she taught middle school English for a few years, too. More recently, she’s written and edited curriculum and fiction novels. She hold a BS in Journalism from Texas A&M and a Masters in Education from Texas State. She’s pretty picky about what her kids watch and play, sometimes for unconventional reasons (Strawberry Shortcake is forbidden because she’s too whiny), but loves math drill and puzzle adventure games for her tween and early reading and fun, creative apps for her five-year-old.
