What’s It About?
NPR NEWS gives kids and parents an all-access pass to National Public Radio's current and archived news stories. Kids can browse stories by subject -- such as U.S. news, world news, or art news -- or by date, and each story offers a text- and image-enhanced look at stories from the radio. Kids also can access NPR's hourly newscast and stream NPR programs such as "All Things Considered" or "Planet Money" on demand.
Is It Any Good?
This app offers great access to radio content and great expanded information for each of its stories through text, images, links, and video. It's exciting to discover text and images that add dimension to the audio, and it's especially helpful to have the chance to both read and listen to stories to understand their content. (Kids who learn differently may appreciate it as well.) The audio and news reading options are strong on their own; having both in one app makes for a stellar experience.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
National Public Radio is only one of many news outlets. How might other news channels present the same information differently?
Some important news stories develop and change over several days or weeks. Talk to your kids about how news stories change over time? How are stories presented differently as they develop?
Do you think it's important to keep up with current events? Why?

Did we miss something on diversity?
Research shows a connection between kids' healthy self-esteem and positive portrayals in media. That's why we've added a new "Diverse Representations" section to our reviews that will be rolling out on an ongoing basis. You can help us help kids by suggesting a diversity update.
