Though it's not the deepest puzzle game, for fans of both Marvel Comics and match-3 puzzles, this can be quite engaging and addictive. In Marvel Puzzle Quest, your favorite Marvel Comics superheroes -- including Spider-Man, Iron Man, and others -- have to stop Norman Osbourne from taking down S.H.I.E.L.D. But instead of punching him, kicking him, or just using the courts or Congress, the superfriends have to battle the bad guys by matching three or more of the same types of gems. Doing so unleashes specific attacks; red triangles, for instance, deal three points of damage from Iron Man. Characters can also do special character-specific attacks, such as when Spider-Man uses his web to stun his opponents for one turn. Things can get rather complex as you progress and add new characters to your roster. Now, if you're not into the Avengers, the X-Men, or other Marvel characters, you'll probably grow tired of this before you get to the fight with Doctor Doom, since the action doesn't vary much, and none of the puzzles in this game get as complicated or mentally taxing as they do in other match-3 games. But if you're a comic book fan, and you like simple match-3 puzzles, you'll find Marvel Puzzle Quest to be more fun than a Stan Lee cameo.
