Parent and Kid Reviews
What’s It About?
Kids can tap on the "?" icon to watch a tutorial, then play one of three modes on the main screen. The "123” mode shows each number as kids touch the screen with the same number of fingers. Tap the back arrow to return to the main screen and choose from the addition or subtraction mode, both of which provide simple math problems that kids solve by tapping the screen with that number of fingers. Tap the microphone in the upper right corner if you want to record your voice over the numbers.
Is It Any Good?
Little Digits is an amazing app for preschoolers who are just learning the basics of counting, adding, and subtracting. This app combines a natural childhood inclination -- counting on fingers -- with mobile technology to help kids learn. As kids count and tap on the screen with each finger and the app responds with the corresponding number, their own counting is reinforced by the cute monster, animal, or alien numbers that appear. The app's layout is very simple, with just three choices of activities and a tutorial. It's also a nice touch that parents can record their voice or their kid's voice saying each number, if desired. An all-around excellent early math app.
