Violence & Scariness
a little
The game does involve "fighting" monsters (represented by skulls) by matching them with other monsters and weapons. The monsters also "attack" the player but it is very abstract, just shown with text and numbers. When monsters are killed, they simply vanish. When you lose, the text "You Were Killed" is displayed.

There is a "More Games" link on the home screen that takes the player to other apps by the same developer.
Ease of Play
a lot
The game is very easy to learn, and there is a tutorial section that explains how the game works. Players draw a path on the screen with their finger to link matching icons to collect them. When collected items vanish, everything falls down and new icons appear from the top. As the player progresses and levels up, other classes and skills are unlocked. There isn't a clear explanation of how these are used and the setup interface is a little clunky.
Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Dungeon Raid is an addicting, easy-to-learn, RPG-based puzzle game. Players take on the role of a hero fighting monsters in a dungeon. Although the game is about collecting treasures and fighting monsters, the depiction of violence is limited to abstracted icons and some sound effects. There is a link on the home screen for more games from the developer, and players can opt in to OpenFeint or Game Center to track achievements and high scores.
DUNGEON RAID appears to be a fairly simple game on the surface, but it is very addictive -- you may find yourself playing "just one more game." The game consists of a grid of icons: treasures, health potions, shields, weapons, and monsters. You draw a path connecting matching icons to collect them, and then new icons fill the screen from the top. To kill monsters, you match them to each other and the weapons.
As you collect items, you can level up your own skills, armor, and weapons -- but the monsters get tougher as well. Eventually you can unlock new classes with different skills. The game is simple but well-designed, and is a real delight to play.
