This is an engaging and intuitive experience that allows kids to explore, practice, and learn vocabulary in a new language while having fun with a variety of word games. Although it may seem brief, the five minute limit makes it easier to incorporate learning a language into a daily routine while keeping the learning process fresh and fun. Drops: Learn 31 new languages is extremely easy to follow, and kids can enjoy the experience without the help of a grown-up. The introductory tutorial and the visual prompts back-up the intuitive directions, and the graphics are easy to understand, and the pronunciation of words is accurate. The word-picture association approach to learning is engaging and makes the process of learning new vocabulary enjoyable. The app incorporates action through different word games, and repetition, which are key in language learning. In addition to the fun and fast-paced word games, kids will find motivation through the milestone tracker, which highlights progress and allows them to see how the list of words learned grows with each session. The flexibility to switch languages at any point is another great feature. This may appeal to kids who are exploring the idea of learning a different language, but want to explore first. Although adds pop up, they aren’t overwhelming and don’t take away from the positive experience. The app would complement formal language classes and families may want to use it as a tool to reinforce what kids are learning in school. Overall, Drops: Learn 31 new languages is an exceptional educational app for learning vocabulary in a new language and can be enjoyed by kids, teens, and grown ups.
