What's It About?

Players slip into the driver's seat of a cab and pick up and drop off fares before time runs out. Different colored coins associated with the fares indicate the rate -- and distance you must drive. If you fail to get to their destination in time, no money is earned. Acceleration and braking/reverse are handled by buttons in the bottom right corner, while steering is done either by buttons on the bottom left or via the phone or tablet's gyroscope.

CRAZY TAXI is a title that comes with a lot of nostalgic feelings attached to it -- and Sega smartly opts to leave well enough alone in this mobile port of the game. The music, the gameplay, the characters ... they're all the same and they bring back the magical feeling of the original.

There's a sense of barely controlled chaos in the game that gives you an adrenaline rush, though the controls sometimes feel a little too loose. The only real negative is the somewhat stereotypical (and offensive) representation of the sole African-American character. It's not a game that will keep you entranced for hours at a time, but as far as pick up and play options go, it's a great one.
