What's It About?
BLOX 3D JUNIOR is a 3-D modeling toy, simple in concept but still challenging. Design starts with one red block. Tapping the block adds another block to the tapped side. Kids can change colors and add blocks to create anything they can imagine. Double-clicking a block destroys it. Several examples are included, along with animations showing how they were built. Kids can alter the examples or start from the one block. Kids can save more than 50 works, returning to them to add more, watch the animation of the building process, or destroy them.
Is It Any Good?
Blox 3D Junior is smart and fun. Kids are free to be creative, designing whatever they can imagine. The 3-D block style looks enough like Minecraft to intrigue kids familiar with the game -- even those too young to play Minecraft themselves. LEGO fans will love designing on it. The controls are easy to pick up, and instructions are modeled with a finger -- there's no text to read -- so little ones can play, too. The examples included give kids just enough inspiration to spark some ideas but are not limiting, and kids have plenty of space to save their work.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about 3-D modeling and compare what's happening on the screen to familiar 3-D modeling activities offscreen, such as building blocks or LEGOs.
Blox 3D Junior could be a great, easily contained option for LEGO lovers on road trips or in places that transporting LEGOs may not be practical.
