  • AMCO is closed for in-person service on Wednesdays. This will permit our staff to focus on backlogs. During these brief closures, we are actively addressing and resolving all immediate needs, such as completion of license delegations, scheduling inspections, and issuing marijuana handler permits and alcoholic beverage event permits. You may still email us and drop off documents in our Dropbox outside Suite 1600. We hope to return to regular in-person service as soon as possible and will update you accordingly.
  • The ABC Board's newest regulations implementing the exceptions to trade practice prohibitions and new practices for manufacturer direct shipment licensees are effective August 9, 2024 and August 23, 2024 respectively. Find the new regulations here.
  • Alcoholic Beverage Licensees -- Regulatory Exceptions to Trade Practices Prohibitions. Regulations implementing the exceptions to trade practice prohibitions become effective August 9, 2024. Review this Presentation for Acceptable Practices here.
  • Alcoholic Beverage Licensees 2024-2025 renewals. Licensees that submitted their 2024-2025 renewal applications have received a letter extending their 2022-2023 until August 24, 2024, or earlier if the application can be brought to the ABC Board as complete. We are busy examining applications and will get as many to the ABC Board as possible at its upcoming meetings on April 16, 2024 and June 25, 2024. Our staff will contact you via AK-ACCIS or email should we have any questions. Thank you again for your patience.
  • Manufacturer Direct Shipment Licensees. Here are the instructions for applying for this license type.
  • Brewery, Winery, and Distillery Retailers! Effective January 1, 2024, you may now host live music or events up to four times a year per manufacturer retail license. Find the application here! And review AS 04.09.685 for all requirements. Local law enforcement approval of your events is required under AS 04.11.260(c)(3)(D).
  • Effective January 1, 2024, a common carrier may not transport of deliver alcoholic beverages to a person in the state unless approved by the board or interimly approved by the AMCO Director. Here is the list of approved common carriers.
  • Find our new keg registration form here. Under AS 04.21.012, "a person may not purchase a keg or similar container holding four or more gallons of an alcoholic beverage unless the person provides proof that the person is over 21 years of age and completes and signs a registration form" and "a licensee or an agent or employee of a licensee who sells or offers for sale a keg or similar container holding four or more gallons of an alcoholic beverage shall require a purchaser to show acceptable proof of age under AS 04.21.050(b) and sign the sworn statement on a registration form."

Alcoholic Beverage Control Board

The Alcoholic Beverage Control Board is established as a regulatory and quasi-judicial agency for the control of the manufacture, barter, possession, and sale of alcoholic beverages in the state. Alaska is a "license" state with the issuance of licenses by the board to private businesses.

How to Object to an Application

Under 3 AAC 306.065, interested persons may submit an objection to an application, not later than 30 days after the application has been deemed completed and notice has been sent to the local government. Completed applications with their objection deadline can be viewed here. Interested persons wanting to object to an application must submit a written statement of reasons for the objection to the applicant, and to the Alcohol & Marijuana Control Office at 550 W 7th Ave, Suite 1600, Anchorage, AK 99501 or at Marijuana Licensing, before the 30-day period expires.
