Historic Downtown Revitalization Grant Program

The City of Coffeyville has created the Historic Downtown Revitalization Grant Program to support the ongoing efforts of preserving and revitalizing our downtown district. This program provides financial assistance to property owners, tenants, and business owners for exterior improvements that maintain the historic charm of our buildings while contributing to economic growth.

Program Highlights:

• Grants of up to $20,000 are available, with a required 25% match from applicants.
• The focus is on exterior improvements that enhance the visual appeal and preserve the historic character of the downtown area.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Location: The property must be located in the designated downtown district.

• Ownership/Tenancy: Property owners and tenants (with written consent from the property owner) are eligible to apply. A property can receive an award once every three years.
• Matching Funds: Applicants must provide 25% of the total project cost, with proof of funds required at the time of application.
• Property Condition: The property should contribute to the historic or aesthetic value of the downtown area.

Eligible Projects Include:

• Façade Improvements: Exterior painting, window and door repairs, restoration of architectural features, and signage enhancements.
• Building Rehabilitation: Structural repairs, roof replacements, and exterior brick or masonry restoration.
• Accessibility Improvements: Adding ADA-compliant features that integrate into the building’s exterior design.
• Building Systems: Upgrades to electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
• Relocation Assistance: Helping businesses relocate within the downtown district.

Application Process:

• Rounds: Applications are accepted twice a year:
  • Spring Round: Opens December 1st, Due by March 15th
  • Fall Round: Opens June 1st, Due by September 15th
• Pre-Application Meeting: We encourage applicants to meet with the Community Development Department to discuss their projects.
• Required Documents: A completed application, detailed project plan, cost estimates, proof of matching funds, property owner consent (if applicable), and contractor bids.

Applications will be evaluated based on the project’s potential to enhance the historic character of downtown, its visual impact, and overall feasibility. Once approved, we’ll guide you through the process to ensure everything runs smoothly.
