Request for Reproductions

For historic materials and images that the museum has clear ownership, reproduction will be honored if not harmful to the object. Individuals may submit in writing their request for reproductions. The Museum must know the purpose or use of the materials. If the request is for educational use or scholarly research, the museum may supply a low resolution digital image free of charge. If more substantial copy is needed, a nominal fee maybe charged. Fees will be charged for reproduction for filming, publication and/or projects that is produced for personal and/or commercial gain.

The Museum must be credited in all publications or public uses and the credit line information must be approved or supplied by the Museum.

Any unauthorized reproductions, distributions or exploitation of historic materials housed by the museum is not permitted. Legal consequences may result from the violations of copyright restrictions.

Historic Materials & Images
For historic materials that are indentified as public record and are retained in the collections of the National Civil Rights Museum, the Museum has custodial rights to store and preserve and make available for non-profit use of these materials to approved third party entities. However, the Museum does not have the right nor does it make any attempt to license materials that are in the public domain. The NCRM may however, collect a fee for the processing of works for use by third party entities.

If an image or object is housed by the museum and is protected by copyright, the NCRM cannot extend rights and reproduction to interested parties that are requesting materials unless expressed by the owner in a contractual agreement to the NCRM.
