Description

This course has been updated to reflect the roles of the employer, and health and safety or policy committees as required under the Work Place Harassment and Violence Prevention Regulations.

This updated e-course features an improved look and functionality to enrich your learning experience.

Every federally-regulated work place must implement and maintain a hazard prevention program (HPP) according to the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations under the Canada Labour Code, Part II. This course explains in practical terms the requirements of the HPP in the Regulations, section by section. Examples, checklists and tips will help you get the job done.

Note: This e-course on its own may not meet all training requirements for federal hazard prevention programs. It should be supplemented by further instruction and hands-on training that is specific to the job, worksite and equipment. For example, training requirements specified in the Work Place Harassment and Violence Prevention Regulations are met through a separate course.

Topics include:

  • Internal responsibility system
  • Responsibilities and duties
  • Implementation plan
  • Roles within a hazard prevention program
  • Hazard identification and assessment
  • Preventive measures
  • Training
  • Program evaluation and review
  • Reports and records

  • Apply the internal responsibility system when implementing a hazard prevention program
