Thinking about getting a cat? Take our quiz to find out whether you're more suited to owning a kitten or a senior kitizen, an indoor cat or outdoor adventurer...
A mature moggy is the ideal companion for you! Think loyal, loving and with a totally unique personality. An older cat is likely to be looking for a quieter or slower pace of life and might just be the calming presence you've been after all along.

Your answers suggest you might be a great fit for a fun and energetic kitten. Kittens are clearly adorable but they can require extra commitment from their owners, especially in the first few months. It's also important to ensure that wherever you're adopting your kitten from is a responsible seller, breeder or rescue shelter. Kittens should be at least 8 weeks old before they are separated from their mothers and rehomed. Find out more: www.cats.org.uk/buying-a-kitten

Ever considered an indoor cat? At Cats Protection we'd recommend most cats have access to the outside world to help them exhibit natural behaviours. However there are certain cats who might benefit from an indoor-only home, for example some deaf cats, those with a weaker immune system or some elderly cats. If you live in a flat or apartment, an indoor cat could be the perfect companion for you!

If you live on a farm, own a yard, stables or small holding or even just have a lot of land surrounding your home, an outdoor cat could be the ideal choice for you. Occasionally cats come into our care who find it stressful to be around people and so need a home where they can have more space than a ’normal‘ home might offer. These cats can often be great 'mousers' and many will still interact with their owners... it just tends to be on their own terms!
