In this project using width-modulated microstrip lines, a new configuration of periodic leaky-wave antenna is synthesized and designed for radiation at the broadside. The proposed antenna validates the effectiveness of this technique for almost suppressing open stopband. The fabricated antenna is able to scan through the broadside without any drop in the gain near the broadside at 14 GHz.

In this project, a practical IoMT-based WBAN has been investigated where the health monitoring of patients could be continuously performed, without any interruption or data collision. Therefore, a periodic conformal LWA based on a width-modulated microstrip line was proposed as a result of which a quasi-omnidirectional pattern was provided at the dedicated WBAN ISM frequency. The designed conformal LWA is flexible enough such that it can be bent similar to a belt around the human body-abdomen.
