Configure your mobile hotspot APN (Android phones)

Some Android phones require a manual Access Point Name (APN) configuration to allow mobile hotspots or tethering on our network. If your phone's cellular data connection is working, but you're having issues when setting up a mobile hotspot, follow the steps below.

Step 1. Go to Settings (located in Apps or in the pull-down notifications tray).

Step 2. Go to Connections, Network Connections, or Network and Internet, depending on your phone.

Step 3. Select Mobile Networks and ensure Mobile Data is enabled.

Step 4. Select Access Point Names or APN (this may be in your phone’s Advanced options).

Step 5. Select Add or the plus "+" sign to add a new APN.

Step 6. Enter the following information (ignore the fields that aren't listed here):

Name – boostdata
APN – resellermht
APN Type – dun
APN Protocol – IPv4 / IPv6
APN Roaming Protocol – IPv4 / IPv6
Turn APN on/off / APN enable/disable – Enabled
Mobile virtual network operator type / MVNO Type – GID

Step 7. Select Save (you may need to select the three dot icon: Navigation Menu Vertical undefined - Free transparent PNG, SVG. No Sign up needed. in the upper right corner of the screen, depending on your phone).

Step 8. Ensure the first APN you created is selected on the Access Point Name screen.

Step 9. Restart your phone.

Step 10. Disconnect from Wi-Fi and test your phone's connection by making a call, sending a text, and loading a web page.

Follow these steps to update the APN settings of your Android phone after you have inserted your SIM card and activated your plan. If you have an iPhone, your APN settings will be automatically updated.

Step 1. Go to Settings (in Apps or pull-down notifications tray).

Step 2. Go to Connections, Network Connections, or Network and Internet, depending on your phone.

Step 3. Select Mobile Networks and ensure Mobile Data is enabled.

Step 4. Select Access Point Name or APN (may be in Advanced options).

Step 5. Select Add or the plus "+" sign to add a 2nd APN Setting.

Step 6. Enter the following information for the 2nd APN setting, ignore the fields that aren't listed here:

Name – boostdata
APN – tethering.dish.com
APN Type – dun
APN Protocol – IPv4 / IPv6
APN Roaming Protocol – IPv4 / IPv6
Turn APN on/off / APN enable/disable – Enabled
Mobile virtual network operator type / MVNO Type – GID

Step 8. Ensure the first APN you created is selected on the Access Point Name screen.

Step 9. Restart your phone.

Step 10. Test your phone's connection by making a call, sending a text and loading a web page. (Make sure you've disconnected from Wi-Fi.)
