Invitation to the BMEL event "Proposal on NGT-Legislation: expected impacts"

The State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture cordially invites you to attend the following event: "Proposal on NGT legislation: expected impacts on coexistence and genetic resources"

Where: the Stanhope Hotel Brussels by Thon Hotels, Brussels
When: Thursday, 5th October 2023, at 18:30 hrs.

The European Commission recently presented a proposal for a regulation on plants obtained by certain new genomic techniques (NGT) and their food and feed products. The proposal is now subject to a lively debate in EU Member States and among regulators, experts and in society at large.

In the event, the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture aims to shed light on the expected impacts of the proposed legislation on the agri-food sector. Particular attention will be given to organic and GMO-free value chains and the aspects of coexistence as well as the free availability of genetic resources for breeding. Panel speakers representing different links in the value chain, ranging from breeding to farming, processing and trading, will share their views and perspectives. The audience will be encouraged to ask questions and contribute to the discussion.
