Bounce Infinity E1X Launched At Rs 55,000 With Battery Swapping Technology

Bounce Infinity has launched a new variant of its E1 electric scooter, called the Bounce Infinity E1X and it comes with battery swapping technology. The scooter is available in two sub-variants: standard E1X and E1+X, priced at Rs 55,000 and Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom) respectively. These prices are most likely for the scooters only that do not include the battery packs. Deliveries of the electric scooter will start from June 2024.

The E1X gets a 1.1kW motor and a top speed of 55kmph while the top-spec sub-variant E1+X gets a 1.5kW motor and a top speed of 65kmph. The E1X and the E1+X get claimed ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) ranges of up to 90km and 80km respectively. Suspension setup consists of a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers while the brake setup consists of a 220mm front disc and a 204mm rear disc brake.

Both the sub-variants get a kerb weight of 93kg, seat height of 780mm, ground clearance of 155mm, and 12-inch wheels at both ends. The E1X gets 90-section tyres at both ends while the E1+X gets a 90-section front and 120-section rear tyre setup. In terms of features, the scooters get a fully-digital instrument console, three riding modes: Eco, Power and Turbo and hill-hold assist. The EV maker has said that a 92kmph variant is also being developed, mainly for export markets. That said, we feel it’s too early to eye export markets as Bounce currently has only 60+ dealerships in India.

Battery swapping technology along with a vast network of swapping stations will make owning an EV pretty convenient. It reduces the downtime associated with charging an electric vehicle as customers can directly replace their drained out battery with an already charged one from the station. Bounce Infinity already has its own battery swapping network but it is only available in Bangalore.

We have seen other manufacturers also working on developing this technology in India in recent times. The Taiwanese EV maker, Gogoro, launched its own battery swapping network in Delhi and Goa last year for B2B (business-to-business) purposes, with plans to make it available for customers by the 2nd quarter of 2024. Last week, we reported on Ola Electric filing a patent for the design of a swappable battery pack. Here’s our analysis on when we can see this battery on Ola scooters.
