- Project number: F 2580
- Institution: Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA)
- Status: Ongoing Project
- Planned end: 2028-02-28
Description:
Changes in the world of work, in particular the increasing availability of flexible working hours and working locations, pose a challenge to occupational safety and health. Political legislation on occupational safety and health also requires sound knowledge of ergonomics. The project therefore uses analyses of the BAuA Working Time Survey 2015 to 2025 to fill the research gaps in areas such as flexible working hours and flexible working arrangements.
The in-depth analyses of the BAuA Working Time Survey will be carried out using both descriptive and longitudinal analyses. Structural analysis or matching techniques may be used to link with other data sources. The project will analyse the interdependencies and mechanisms between different working time models in relation to safety and health. The focus will be on flexible working hours, location flexibility, rest periods and the extension of working time. Particular attention will be paid to different occupational groups and their specific demands.
The aim of the project is to develop recommendations for healthy working time conditions and to comprehensively address and fill research gaps. In addition, the results are intended to help to objectify the political debate on working time.
