Delphi survey: "Digital Ergonomics 2025 - Trends and strategies for increasing product usability and designing safe, healthy and efficient socio-technical work systems"

  • Project number: F 2313
  • Institution: Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA)
  • Status: Completed Project

Description:

Research on how to support product and production design processes by virtual ergonomic tools is one of the scientific focal points within the interdisciplinary field of ergonomics. Digital human models are an important aspect within this research context. Assuring a widespread use of these and other computer-aided ergonomic tools comprises great potential for increasing product usability and designing safe, healthy and competitive work systems: The identification and adjustment processes for dangerous or unhealthy product design and work system parameters can be moved into early product and production process design phases.

In order to analyse specific future technological and organisational trends, a comprehensive expert-based Delphi survey on "Digital Ergonomics" will be developed and carried out within the scope of this project. Trends will be identified as well as their expert-assessed probability of occurrence. This information will be summarized in a prognosis called "Digital Ergonomics 2025", which then is the basis for further research activities dealing with digital ergonomic tools.
