The US automaker Ford is doing its best to keep the S650 seventh generation Ford Mustang entertaining during its second model year – complete with collectibles.
The latest iteration of the iconic pony car has been doing pretty well – as much as it can be done in the sports car arena, which is starting to look like an endangered species due to the hype surrounding crossovers, SUVs, and trucks. So, after the first six months of the year, it comfortably ruled over the RWD two-door kingdom, with sales of more than 27k units and a 7.7% rise compared to the same time last year.

It's way ahead of the defunct sixth-generation Chevy Camaro and the Dodge Challenger but also the C8 Chevy Corvette, for example. As such, the Ford Motor Company corner office head honchos are not worried too much about the last of the V8 Mohicans in the pony car segment – for 2025, they added the limited-edition Mustang 60th Anniversary Package solely for the 5.0-liter Coyote V8-equipped Mustang GT Premium Fastback and Convertible, as well as the $325k 2025 Ford Mustang GTD supercar.

The track-ready homologation special of the Mustang GT3 racer apparently comes with a two-year no-sale agreement by default to try and avoid flipping – but diehard collectors might not care about that if they see it sounds like a riot on wheels while attacking the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb course. For sure, it's going to be interesting to witness the clash between the 800-hp Ford Mustang GTD and the 1,064-horsepower C8 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 – if not between the cars, at least between their supporters.

Anyway, it seems the $325k Ford Mustang GTD is not only good for an air-conditioned vault (to wait for its value to rise during the next century's barn find hunts) or the winding track next door but also for the parallel universes of vehicular CGI. Just recently, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators took a quirky swing at it - Oscar Vargas, the virtual artist better known as wb.artist20 on social media, continues to dream of automotive stuff that probably can't be made in the garage and used the Mustang GTD for his ongoing 'Transformers' impersonation series.

As such, after making the cool 3D transformation in CGI for the most obvious model – Chevy's Camaro in gold hue for Bumblebee references - now the pixel master has upgraded to an 800-hp supercar that also costs an arm and a leg. This time around, it's dressed in dark blue, and we have an ardent question – is this an Autobot, or has the author switched to Decepticons? Also, what's an appropriate name for this new Transformer?
