Returns policy

All returns

Damages or defects must be reported immediately. Claims made 30 days or more following invoice date will not be honored.

Material must be unmarked and in saleable condition. For special offer package(s), returns must include the complete set; partial returns of product packages are not accepted.

Downloadable PDFs, pamphlets, videos, DVDs, online CE courses, online CE exams, and computer software are not returnable or refundable.

APA PsycNet Direct and Academic Writer purchases are generally not refundable, but APA may, at its discretion, refund payments in consideration of mitigating circumstances.

Postage on returns must be prepaid at returner’s expense. In the case of APA misshipments received, only standard postage rates for return shipment will be credited/refunded.

When an APA shipping error has occurred, please contact the Order Department at (800) 374-2721 or (202) 336-5510 to schedule a pickup of your package(s).

Individuals and institutions

Returns are accepted within 30 days of the invoice date. For APA records, please indicate the reason for return.

Enclose a copy of the APA invoice or note the APA invoice number in a cover letter. If unknown, provide complete title information, purchaser name, address to which order was sent, phone number, and date of purchase.

Refunds are made by check or in case of credit card payments, by crediting your account. Shipping and handling fees are not refundable.

Resellers

Written permission is required. For permission to be granted, please provide the title and/or APA item number, quantity ordered, invoice, and/or purchase order number of the original order.

Returns must be made within 12 months of the invoice date.

All overstock returns must consist of in-print titles only.

After receiving permission, please package books securely and enclose your “Permission to Return” document with the return. In the case of multiple box returns, each box must be numbered 1 of (total number of boxes) etc. A copy of the “Permission to Return” document must be in each box.

Failure to comply could result in an insufficient and/or delayed credit.

APA will not be responsible for shortages in credit due to customer’s failure to adhere to the return policy.

Credit memos will be issued to the account on which the invoice was originally billed. Our Credit and Collections department will mail a copy of each credit memo to the billing account address. Credit must be used within one year of the credit memo date. Always refer to the credit memo number when deducting and/or corresponding about credit.

APA-designated distributors
