APA’s Office of Continuing Education in Psychology and the American Nutrition Association are cosponsoring three one-hour continuing education webinars this fall that explore the relationship between nutrition and mental health by taking a closer look at the behavioral elements of eating, the impact of nutrition on anxiety, and the gut-brain connection.

Overcoming fear and anxiety

Research and grant-writing support
Applications open in November for the APA Minority Fellowship Leadership and Education Advancement Program (Leap) for Diverse Scholars Program, a mentoring and leadership development program for early career social and behavioral scientists from underrepresented racial and ethnic populations. Applicants must have a research focus that aligns with the mission of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. Monitor honored for excellence
APA’s Monitor on Psychology magazine has won the 2022 APEX Grand Award for publications excellence in magazines, journals, and tabloids. The magazine was one of more than 1,200 publications from across all categories in the annual awards, which honor outstanding works in publishing. The Monitor’s June 2021 article “Raising anti-racist children” by Kirsten Weir also won a grand award in the writing category, and the magazine won three additional awards of excellence in the categories of Covid Media, News Writing, and Interviews and Profiles.
