Veiligheidsinformatie op advertenties

Safety is one of our top priorities. To help prevent surprises and ensure transparency, we ask that Hosts welcome guests responsibly by completing all safety and accessibility sections with helpful details about what to expect.

What sections to update

Make sure you complete the Guest safety section of the listing in addition to detailing the information below in your description.

Safety considerations

Describe the property and its surroundings so guests can make informed decisions about whether the property is right for them:

  • Suitability for children: Whether guests should expect any features that may not be safe for kids.
  • Pool or hot tub: Direct access to a swimming pool or hot tub that is unprotected by a gate or lock
  • Body of water: Direct, unrestricted access to an ocean, pond, creek, etc. on or adjacent to the property
  • Climbing or play structure: Direct, unrestricted access to a playset, swing, slide, ropes, etc.
  • Unprotected heights: Access to an area or structure higher than 76.2 centimeters/30 inches that doesn’t have a rail or other protection
  • Animals on or around the property: Whether guests may come into contact with animals that could cause harm, like a horse or a dangerous animal.

Safety devices

Let guests know about the presence of things like:

  • Security cameras or recording devices:
    • Exterior: Devices must be disclosed in the listing description and should not monitor areas where users have a greater expectation of privacy, such as the inside of an enclosed outdoor shower or in a sauna.
    • Indoors: Hosts are not allowed to have security cameras or recording devices that monitor a listing’s interior spaces, except for certain listings in Japan with a Hotel Business License, where hosts may be required by applicable law to have a camera that monitors the listing’s interior entryway only (those cameras must be disclosed to guests, are not allowed to monitor any of the listing’s spaces outside of the entryway, and are prohibited from recording audio). Hidden cameras are strictly prohibited.
  • Noise decibel monitor: Devices that assess sound levels and their duration but do not record audio should be disclosed and are not allowed in bedrooms, bathrooms, or sleeping areas.
  • Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms:
    • Carbon Monoxide alarm: If present, carbon monoxide alarms should be noted under  Amenities—if not present or if you do not address whether the carbon monoxide alarm is present or not, this will be stated on the listing page.
    • Smoke alarm: Devices that detect and warn of the presence of smoke and/or fire—if not present or if you do not address whether the smoke alarm is present or not, this will be stated on the listing page.
    • We strongly urge hosts to install smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, test them regularly and make sure their listing description is up to date.

Property info

Inform guests of the following:

  • Stairs: Whether they’ll need to walk up and down stairs during their stay and additional details (location, steepness, wheelchair access, railings, etc.).
  • Noise: Whether there may be unavoidable noise, such as traffic, construction, or noise from nearby businesses.
  • Pets: Type and number of pets on the property and how guests might interact with them.
  • Parking: Details guests should know about parking near your property (how many vehicles they can park on the property, on-street parking information, etc.)
    • Hosts can detail this information in the amenities section of their listing. Within amenities, you can select free parking on premises, free street parking, paid parking off premises and/or paid parking on premises.
  • Shared spaces: Whether guests should expect to share any spaces (kitchen, bathroom, patio, etc.) with others.
    • Hosts can detail this information in their Photo Tour by selecting “shared room” in the privacy details section of each space in their Photo Tour.
