2012 - Twenty-three airports to receive $1,011,350 in second round of 2011-2013 Airport Aid Grants
ARLINGTON - Twenty-three Washington airports will receive $1,011,350 in the second round of state Airport Aid program grants for the 2011-2013 biennium. These funds will cover 29 airport projects across the state in the areas of pavement, safety, planning and security.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Aviation also used $887,618 in state funds to leverage about $30.2 million in federal grants for Washington airports.

WSDOT places a priority on maintaining airport pavements to preserve facilities and improve safety. Eighty-six percent of these second round grant projects are focused on pavement.

Exact grant amounts are subject to change according to final project bid totals.
Thirty-nine airports applied for $4 million in grants for this round. WSDOT's grant program is funded through an 11-cent-per gallon fee on aviation fuel, along with aircraft registration fees.
WSDOT anticipates soliciting applications for the first round of 2013-2015 biennium grants in March and April 2013. Awards for that round should be announced by July 8, 2013.
