Permanent traffic count services
Installation and operation of permanent traffic data collection and retrieval systems.
These services provide installation of permanent traffic counting equipment on Washington state highways statewide for the purpose of collecting traffic volume, classification, speed and weight data. The services are available to other governmental organizations and cost quotes can be provided.
Permanent traffic recorder installation
Permanent traffic recorders have the capability to continuously collect volume, classification, speed and weight data on just about any traveled roadway throughout the year. A traffic counter can be configured to collect one to all of these data elements.
Telemetry installation
The installation of telemetry equipment for data retrieval includes the following data format types:
- Raw data: This format will include lane number, time stamp, speed, number of axles, length and axle spacing for each vehicle. Depending on the telemetry equipment used, this type of data could take longer to download as it requires more storage space.
- FHWA 13 bin classification: This format is available in 1-minute to 24-hour intervals and is customizable upon request.
- Count, speed and length: Basic volume, speed and length data collection.
Traffic control
Work zone traffic control is provided for single or multiple lane closures on state highways, county roads, city streets, tribal and natural resource areas according to WSDOT M54-44 guidelines. Flagging operations are also available at various two-lane roadways. All field personnel carry a current flagger’s card and several carry a traffic control supervisor card.
