Disability access concerns - ADA
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, WSDOT has set policies to protect people with disabilities from discrimination. Learn more on how to file an ADA complaint, report an ADA issue, or make a request for a public accommodation.
File an ADA complaint
It is our intent to resolve discrimination complaints expediently and equitably. Any person who believes their ADA protection has been violated may file a complaint with our Office of Equity and Civil Rights by the following methods:
Email: wsdotada@wsdot.wa.gov
Phone: 855-362-4ADA (4232) (Toll free)
Persons who are deaf or hard of hearing may make a request by calling the Washington State Relay at 711.
Mail: Allison Spector
ADA/504 Compliance Coordinator
Washington State Department of Transportation
310 Maple Park Avenue SE
P.O. Box 47300
Olympia, WA 98504-7300
The complaint (PDF 169KB) should be submitted by the grievant or the grievant's designee as soon as possible but no later than 60 calendar days after the alleged violation.
Within 15 calendar days of receiving the complaint, the ADA External Compliance Coordinator or designee will meet with the complainant to discuss the complaint and possible resolutions. If the issue cannot be resolved during the meeting, the complainant will be notified of next steps towards resolution. All written complaints received will be retained by WSDOT for at least three years.
The individual's right to prompt and equitable resolution of the complaint must not be impaired by his/her pursuit of other remedies, such as the filing of a complaint with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA) or other appropriate federal or state agency. Furthermore, the filing of a lawsuit in state or federal district court can occur at any time. The use of this complaint resolution procedure is not a prerequisite to the pursuit of other remedies.
Report an ADA issue
If you would like to report an ADA issue that you would like to see resolved, please email wsdotada@wsdot.wa.gov, or call toll free 855-362-4ADA (4232).
