I have not been able to back up since 12/26/2024. I have Version 1.24.12. I’m also using WordPress 6.7.1. When I try, it says, “Waiting until scheduled time to retry because of errors.” It tries several times but never finishes backing up. I have to cancel manually. I’m not sure what is wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Jason,

Sorry to hear about the issues. Could you provide a backup log file so I can review it for problems?
This error often relates to connection time outs but the log file will give me more exact information.

    Best regards,

    Nick

Hi Nick. Sure, I can provide the log file. I never provided one before. How can I do that here?

    Hi Jason,

Once you’ve copied the info from the log file you can use PasteBin to share the contents.
It’s pretty straight forward but you do need to create an account, which is quick and easy.
You may know already, but the log files are next to the backup items in Existing backups.

    Hi Nick,

Here is the pastebin url where the log file is located. https://pastebin.com/DGH0pT3v

    Thanks,

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for the log file. It has an error message warning you need to authenticate with Dropbox:
0036.536 (0) Dropbox: error when trying to gain access: You are not authenticated with Dropbox

There’s info on the page linked about how to authenticate with Dropbox, I hope it’s helpful to you.

    Hi Nick,

Thanks for the info. I did what you said, and it did work. But, now I have to do it (re-authenticate) every time I need to do a backup.

For example, I re-authenticate, and then I can do a backup. Then later on, an hour or so later, if I need to do another back up, I need to re-authenticate again for the back up to work.

    Best,

    Jason

    Hi Jason,

As it happens, another user on the forum has reported a similar issue recently.
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/you-are-not-authenticated-with-dropbox/

We’re examining possibilities but I’m a little stumped as I don’t have much info.
I’ve suggested checking quota and also contacting Dropbox with the error code.

Reason being the error code doesn’t give me specifics, they may know it better.
Research suggests this may be an active lock out from the service provider end.

    Best regards,

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

Thanks for the info. I will contact Dropbox and see if they have any input.

    Hi Jason,

Thank you. It would be really helpful to know what input Dropbox have.
We’re limited by WordPress rules in what we can do to investigate here.

    Best regards,

    Nick.

    Hi Updraft,

Unfortunately, my back-ups are completing with “warnings” after having been working consistently for over 3 months.

    Hi Monty,

Looking at the log file the problem you’re experiencing is a different one.

The messages are suggesting the local server is short on space and can’t perform operations:
0038.916 (0) Binary zip: error (code: 14 – look it up in the Diagnostics section of the zip manual at http://infozip.sourceforge.net/FAQ.html#error-codes for interpretation… and also check that your hosting account quota is not full)

    Here’s the code 14 info:
Zip encountered an error writing to an output file (typically the archive); for example, the disk may be full.

Here’s some further info on how much space is required to create and send the backups:
    https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-much-free-disk-space-do-i-need-to-create-a-backup/

My first suggestion would be to make sure space is sufficient and check file permissions.

    Best regards,

    Nick
