Simhachalam is a famous 11th century temple dedicated to Lord Narasimha incartion of Lion. This temple is located at a distance of 16 kms from Visakhapatnam City on a hill 800 ft above sea level. The architecture and sculptures of the temple are a real feast for the eyes. The temple exhibits a mixture of Dravidian as well as Nagara School of architecture. The Deccan style of architecture is also seen here. Simhachalam temple is a treasure house of inscriptions offering valuable pointers to the political and social life of the medieval times.
