Pokemon Battle Frontier
- Rue Wite-
Gender: Female
Age: 11
Occupation: Pokemon Breeder, part-time Pokemon Nurse's Aid, and part-time guide
Biography: The Wite Family runs a long-standing tradition of which every children of the family who wishes to set off into the world must first pass a coming-of-age trail. Not that the age ever seemed to matter. Before being allowed to leave the family’s town house in Terracotta Town, the children must first set off to the Kanto Pokemon Safari with nothing but what they allow you to bring there and return home in a week with a captured Dratini. Rue’s grandfather had done it, Rue’s father and uncles have done it, and Rue has done the same at the age of… 5. Some might say that 5 is an absurdly young age for a child to venture into the safari and try to counter against possibly vicious wild pokemons with nothing but baits and rocks, but then again, we live in a world where children of age 10 are fully certified and licensed to go out into the world and whack at each other with creatures trapped in a ball.
Before talking about how Rue’s fun-fill, pokemon-related life begins, lets talk about Rue’s parents. As aforementioned, Rue’s father is a proud member of the Wite family who are famous for their dragonites. Wander-lust runs in the family streak and the members of the family are almost always on the move in between regions on various traveling methods. Rue’s father, Abel Wite, is an idiot. Not the technical mental retardation type of idiot… okay, maybe a bit of that as well, but rather, the man doesn’t seem to ever notice that there are certain things you just can’t do. For example, expect your dragonite to surf right behind the S.S. Anne just because you forgot to buy the ferry ticket. Or, venture into stormy blizzards with no provisions. However, Abel has always survived those death-defying trips into the wild and he prides himself in living to tell the tale to his daughter, whom he later began to bring with him on said type trips. Then, there is Rue’s mother. Josaphine Marceltez, a beautiful and well-educated pokemon scientist of an upper-middle class family background. Josaphine is pretty much the opposite of Abel: calm, collected, calculating, and most importantly, careful. There are still debates between the parents about who has fallen for the other first, but considering how that topic seems to never reach a conclusion it can be said that the two love each other very much. Probably.
Going back to little Rue of age 5. Being stranded in the woods was actually no big deal for the 7th generation Wite child. She slept wherever was deemed safe and dry enough, and ate whatever she sees the wild pokemons eat. But then the hard part of the trail came, she spotted a while dratini by the waters about third day into the trail. The little dratini, now the oldest and most reliable member of Rue’s team, was as stubborn as heck. It would take any of the bait, but it never seems to leave Rue alone for too long- always circling the area where Rue resides as she tries to figure out a way to capture the pokemon. Three more days of stalemate, and the dratini still refuses to be caught. Rue figures since it was the last day of the trail she might as well eat what she had brought with her on day one. What her bag contained was a few chocolate bars.
The dratini took the not-bait and was captured.
Ever since then, Rue has been traveling with her father for five months a year and traveled with her mother for the other five. During two pre-determined two months of every year the three members of the family would either attend some sort of event such as watching a contests or a tournament and/or venture to a specific hot-spot hoping to see a legendary pokemon.
When Rue turned 10, she stopped traveling with her father after she got her own pokemon trainer license and went her own way. However, the family continues their two-months-per-year-meet routine along with the rest of their family members all over the world. In the past year, Rue worked on inter-regional delivery jobs with her dragonite. Her experiences with her reckless father and her intelligent mother turn out to be her biggest lifesaver out in the wild. Rue also got herself a part-time job in which she would be summoned to Nurse Joys from all over the place whenever they need a hand in busy-seasons.
Personality: With a stupidly suicidal father like Rue, who would’ve develop an overly cautious personality? Because of a few near-death experiences with her father during her youth, Rue has learned to never be unprepared at early signs of trouble. This includes her packing medicines and food along with her even if she’s just visiting a neighboring town and chiding her pokemon for eating anything that would unbalance their diets. Despite her sometimes ‘momma’ like attitude, Rue is very sympathetic towards people and pokemons in general and seems to have a particularly soft spot for abandoned pokemons.
Extra: Sub-space stomach for desserts. Rue’s highest record of cake eating was four 8” cakes in half-an hour.
Like her father, Rue is downright durable. She is an extremely outdoor type of person and can easily handle herself in a fight as well as she can handle herself in a sandstorm. Much to the amazement of people that know her, Rue can easily lift up a grown adult over her shoulder and haul them up a light flight of stairs. Also, she always win the grand prizes in all hammering games in festivals.
-Inventory-
BackPack: Waterproof and extremely durable, Rue stuff just about everything she’ll need beforehand into this big backpack. Most people don’t carry around such big and dorky looking bags anymore for style but for Rue, its better to be safe than to be cute.
Pokedex, Poketch, Cellphone: Equipped with shatterproof and waterproof shells, courtesy of her mother. Rue’s traveling tech gears might not be those of the newest models or cutest designs, but they have yet to fail her.
Waist Pouch: Rue’s Pokeballs and her tech gears are all kept snuggly in her waist pouch. A bonus they give you for free when you buy the backpack. Its made of the same material as the Pack and the flap keeps the zipper of the pouch from snagging.
First Aid Items: What kind of Nurse’s Aid doesn’t go around carrying at least the standard emergency recovery items and more!?
Food: Because of a certain traumatic childhood memory of being trapped in a wet coven with some hungry wild pokemons thanks to his father, Rue arms herself with non-perishable food and a cooking utensil at all times. Also, the Pot can be used to make herbal brews if the need arises.
Tent and Sleeping Bag: “Honestly, it seems like the newer generations just don’t bring those with them anymore!” says Rue’s grandmother during a family gathering. Contrary to most other trainers’ tiny pouches and cute looking bags, Rue’s backpack is strapped with everything required to sleep outdoors without being soaked by dew and rain in the morning. Although the sleeping bag is rarely used because Tale the Ninetails is often used as a replacement, it really saves your life in cold weathers.
Helmet and Safety Gears: As relaxing and cool as riding a dragon seems, Rue knows first-handed of the dangers of riding a pokemon who can travel around the world in 16 hours at its top speed. Afterall, even her seemingly invincible idiot father had to be hospitalized for a few months after falling off of his own dragonite, Rue isn’t about to ask if her skull is stronger than that of a man who remained 3-D after having a snorlex squishing him with its butt.
-Team-
Pkm#1: Nite
Species: Dragonite
Attacks:
Hyper Beam
Thunder
Fly
Surf
Bio: Nite is Rue’s first pokemon as well as her proof of passage of the Wite family’s coming-of-age-trail. Normally Nite is a very agreeable pokemon who does his best at protecting his owner, but when it comes to long-distant traveling (like going across regions and oceans) it would require some serious reward. Nite loves sweet food, which Rue later diagnosed as the reason she managed to catch him in the first place. And if you expect the giant dragon to carry you on a day-long trip in the skies or the seas you will have to surrender a decent about of sweet-treats. However, lets not forget that Rue is a Nurse’s aid as well as a mother hen. So the young girl is always pouting and stomping her feet in frustration as her dragonite gobbles down piles and piles of diabetic-inducing food and screwing up his diet.
Extra: 1st Pokemon. Captured in Kanto Safari Range at age 5.
Pkm#2: Liz
Species: Blissey
Attacks:
Soft-Boiled
Egg Bomb
Focus Punch
Secret Power
Bio: Hatched from an egg from the Saffron City’s Nurse Joy’s Chansey. Little Happiny was actually the third pokemon that entered Rue’s team. However, it evolved at an amazing rate due to the happy and stress free atmosphere of Rue’s little ‘family’. Liz is a very happy little thing and hates it when there is a sad face anywhere. Instead of offering the egg from her pouch to the sad person, Liz would hand the egg over the Rue and expects Rue to make a delicious pot of Happy Nabe for the person.
Liz is a very good nursing pokemon, but for personal safety keep her away from the kitchen.
Extra: 3rd Pokemon. Hatched into a Happiny in Saffon Pokecenter at age 10.
Pkm#3: Tale
Species: Ninetails
Attacks:
Flame Thrower
Fire Blast
Iron Tail
Endure
Bio: Tale sees himself as the only member of the team that isn’t easy-going. In fact, he is so very uptight that if he has decided that he will not do a certain thing it would be impossible to convince him otherwise. The macho, self-disciplined Ninetail has followed through all declarations but one: NOT letting Rue use him as a sleeping mat + fluffy tail covers. Rue captured Tale during her first expedition on Cinnabar Island and has declared that island a guidable territory with Tale’s help ever since.
Extra: 2nd Pokemon. Captured in Cinnabar Island at age 10.
Pkm#4: Bloom
Species: Cherrim
Attacks:
Solar Beam
Aromatherapy
Sunny Day
Giga Impact
Bio: Rue never meant to capture herself a Cherrim, but the cheerful little bud just dropped out of a tree during a short resting break on Rue and Nite’s second trip to snow point city for deliveries. The thing is, little Bloom began dancing on Nite’s head. However, Nite good-naturedly did not mind since the Cherrim smelled like sweet fruits, and eventually when its time to leave the area and the plant pokemon just wouldn’t leave them alone Rue captured it and it became part of her team. Cherrim specializes in distracting and lowering the tension levels of pokemons during treatment, and honestly who can stop looking at a wriggling little flower that practically screams for attention?
Extra: 4th Pokemon. Captured/Followed by before reaching Snow Point Mountain at age 10.
Pkm#5: Leon
Species: Glaceon
Attacks:
Quick Attack
Ice Shard
Ice Fang
Avalanche
Bio: Barely half a year ago, when Rue just turned 11, she found an abandoned Glaceon on her way to Snow point city once again. The Glaceon was injured on the side and its eye was gashed shut, but when Rue tried to help the resilient pokemon bit her. However, Rue didn’t give up, after using Mic to coax Glaceon asleep the girl brought him to the nearby pokemon center and watches over him as he recovers. Even though Leon was really nasty toward any one including the doctors, Nurse Joy commented that the Glaceon seems to already have an owner. Later on Rue found out that there is an illegal Glaceon specialized breeder nearby that evolves eevees into Glaceons in the area who often abandons the ones that were less powerful. Angered, Rue confronted the breeder demanding him to stop, which of course he laughed and ignored her. But Rue kept on bothering the man, even accidentally crushing his vehicle with Nite in one confrontation. This made the illegal breeder mad as well and he attempts to just get rid of Leon once and for all. Of course, as all shounen plots go, the bad guy got defeated tragically and Leon joined Rue’s team. Though Leon is still rather smart-mouthed and mean toward everyone. Especially toward Mic because she was the one that used sing on him before.
Extra: 6th Pokemon. Captured/Rescued in Route 217.
Pkm#6: Mic
Species: Jiggly Puff
Attacks:
Sing
Hyper Voice
Wake-up Slap
Perish Song
Bio: Mic was an abnormal iggly puff with sierra-gold eyes instead of magneta. And her poofy hair was extra-poofy, even after she evolved into a jiggly puff. Mic isn’t all that interested in singing lullabies alone, and her dream is to hear the song of a Ho-oh one day. Because of her weird hair and eyes, Mic was cast away from the Jiggly Puff community and forced to wander around singing. Except everyone tends to evade a jiggly puff holding a mic. One day Mic met Bloom as Rue’s team was exploring Mt. Mortar, an ever-excitable Chrrim who was merrily dancing to Mic’s singing, a pokemon friendship was born in the caves and Mic joined the team. Since Rue’s pretty bad with earphones because they hurt of ears, Mic frequently learn the songs played on Rue’s radio and re-play them whenever she feels like it.
Extra: 5th Pokemon. Captured/Followed by in Mt. Mortar.
-Relationships-
Charley by
First Met: Saffron City, Age 10
Not long after Rue first left home and traveled to Saffron City for her Nurse’s Aid job application and her Happiny Egg, she met a short little boy asking people in the center if there is a way to get to the former island of fire, Cinnabar Island even though he doesn’t have a surfing or a flying pokemon. The boy looked desperate and Rue took pity on Charley since its obvious the boy has never left town before. Since Cinnabar Island is where she had just captured Tale from Rue was fairly confident in her knowledge of the island. So the girl offered the boy a ride while she herself was planning on visiting Seafoam Island next. Charley was considered her first ‘customer’ and she kept a steady friendship with the boy via e-mails.
Extra: Rue was very shocked when she first found out that Charley and her are the same age.
Miki by
First Met: Goldenrod City, Age 10
While working in the Goldenrod City Pokecenter, the center received an injured _____. And it turned out to be under the ownership of Miki when Rue was told to bring the healed up pokemon back to the lobby later on. After the treatment Miki and Rue chatted a bit and they hanged out for a while until Rue had to leave for another job. They met many times after that during their own respective travels and kept in touch on email.
Extra: Apparently Rue really admires Miki’s ‘kick-ass-ness’, as she calls it, and has been calling Miki ‘onee-san’ever since their first meeting.
Tyson by
First met: Solaceon Town, age 11
Tyson was Rue’s first ‘human delivery’. There was an urgent need for a baby pokemon care-giver in a remote country side town and Rue has no experience with daycaring of pokemons, so she followed the recommendation of the villager and kidnapped/snatched Tyson from his town and to the countryside instead of the reserved during her confusion. Rue properly apologized afterwards and got the official permission from Tyson before she kidnaps him again for other jobs. So technically its okay to call the two business partners.
Extra: Rue would love to one day have a snowboarding/skiing race with Tyson.
Cannon by
First met: in the air of route 220, age 11
Both Cannon and Rue were on a delivery job when they first met. And coincidentally they were both heading back to the land-mass of route 221 after a tiresome delivery job (Though Rue was heading to her destination while Cannon was returning from it). They were both flying in the air, each on their flying specific pokemons and over the waters of route 220. Invisible headlights blinked and flashed at the start of some unreasonable air race. Both of their pokemons specializes in air speed, except Rue’s Dragonite was holding the advantage of carrying a lighter burden in comparison to their wings and the fact that his maximum flight speed is 1,556 mph (see Bulbapedia lolz). The matched ended in SunnyShore Town with a quick trip to the local pokecenter for two exhausted pokemons and two winded trainers. It was not until their second meeting at Solaceon town did Rue find out that Cannon and Tyson are friends.
Extra: With a single ‘A friend’s friend is a friend!’, Rue became friends with her fellow deliverer.
