Dele Alli has said his Besiktas absence was due to a doctor’s appointment after manager Senol Gunes claimed the on-loan Everton player had not reported back for training.
The 26-year-old is spending the 2022-23 campaign on loan in Turkey but Gunes said that the former Tottenham midfielder had failed to return to Istanbul after a short break.

“We gave Dele Alli permission for a small break but he has not come back yet,” Gunes said.
“It is raining and that is probably why he did not come (to training). We are trying to find out where he is.”
Dele later responded on social media and said he had been given permission by the club to be absent on Wednesday.
He wrote on Instagram: “Just had loads of message so wanted to clear something up.
“The club gave me permission to attend a doctor’s appointment today. I’m due back in training tomorrow (Thursday) as normal.
The former England international has had a difficult spell in the Turkish Super Lig, scoring just two goals in 13 league games this season.
Besiktas had an £8million option to sign him permanently, but The Athletic has reported that they have opted against it and there was no obligation to buy.
Dele’s current contract on Merseyside runs until 2024.
Asked about the player’s future at Goodison Park, Everton boss Sean Dyche said this month: “I’ll wait to find out (about Dele) during the international break. We’ll have to wait and see and judge in the summer.”
