Why Choose Us Te Rourou

As One New Zealand’s charitable arm, Te Rourou is committed to ensuring all rangatahi in Aotearoa can thrive.

Our mission

At Te Rourou, we have a vision of an Aotearoa New Zealand where all young people have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

One in five young people in New Zealand are facing barriers to accessing the opportunities which help them thrive. Challenges faced by these young people include barriers surrounding their health, education, and employment, and many experience material deprivation, racism, and interactions with the justice system and protective services.

As One NZ’s charitable Foundation, we unlock the magic of technology to connect and forge strong relationships throughout Aotearoa – enabling communities to empower our rangatahi.

Our history

Since 2002, One NZ has invested more than $50 million to support the work of the Foundation. We’ve provided funding to more than 1,000 community organisations, and we’re proud to be one of the largest corporate philanthropic organisations in Aotearoa.

Our Foundation draws on the resources and skills of the One NZ team, allowing us to blend digital skills, corporate partnerships, operational and communications support, advocacy, and mentoring with philanthropic funding to drive fast-paced, sustainable, and measurable change for young people in New Zealand.

Our focus areas

Alongside One NZ, we look to create opportunities for rangatahi through digital technology, connecting and opening a world of possibilities for our young people. But we’re also taking corporate philanthropy to a whole new level by focusing on breaking the barriers faced by our communities, enabling impactful, sustainable change which lasts far beyond the length of an initiative.

Our focus on place-based initiatives empowers communities to drive their own change. By concentrating our resources in specific areas of need, we are looking to create a case study for how best to work with communities in creating long-term impact for rangatahi.
