T-shore, funded through the Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) Erasmus+ call, is focused on addressing the skills shortage in the offshore wind industry. Our consortium of thirteen partners from Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Norway, and The Netherlands includes Vocational Education Trainers (VETs), higher education institutions, and industry, all working together to tackle this challenge through vocational education.
Aligned with key EU policies like the European Skills Agenda and the 2020 Council Recommendation on VET, T-shore supports reforms in vocational education by ensuring high-quality skills and competencies that lead to meaningful employment and long-term career opportunities.
What We’re Doing
- Regional Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs): We are establishing six regional CoVEs to create a collaborative network that shares best practices across Europe. These centres bring together industry, education, and policymakers to address the offshore wind industry’s skills needs.
- Entry-Level Offshore Technician Programme: Our goal is to harmonise education for entry-level wind technicians, enabling VET providers to deliver consistent, high-quality training across Europe.
- Train the Trainer Programme: VET partners travel to each other’s locations to explore infrastructure, capabilities, and expertise. This exchange enhances our network and allows us to test-run developing modules, ensuring they meet offshore wind industry needs.
- Collaboration with Industry: We are working directly with industry leaders to identify the key competencies required for the offshore wind sector and align training programmes accordingly. This collaboration ensures our education programmes stay relevant and effective.
Our Objectives
- To harmonise education for offshore wind technicians across Europe
- Develop a training library that will be shared across the CoVE network
- CoVEs will be established across the EU to provide hands-on training and support for workers in the offshore wind industry.
- A ‘Train the Trainer’ programme will be established to increase the capabilities of VET school trainers.
- Industry collaboration will be fostered to ensure that the training programmes and CoVEs meet the needs of employers in the offshore wind industry
Why It Matters
- Bridging Industry and Education: These CoVEs will facilitate collaboration between industry and education, ensuring that training programs align with evolving industry needs and provide the necessary skills and competencies for offshore wind workers.
- Supporting EU Initiatives: The project is aligned with the European Green Deal, Digital Strategy, and other key EU policies aimed at fostering innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability in the economy.
- Enhancing Industry Appeal: Our communications efforts promote the offshore wind industry, highlighting its importance for Europe’s green transition and attracting new workers to the sector.
