Back up projects and timelines in Final Cut Pro for iPad
Backing up your work and your media consistently is an essential part of your workflow. Some people back up daily or weekly; others back up when a project is complete. One effective way to back up your Final Cut Pro projects is to make regular backups of your entire iPad to iCloud or to a computer. See Back up iPad in the iPad User Guide.
Important: If you delete the Final Cut Pro app from your iPad, any internally stored projects (and their media and timelines) are also deleted. (See Intro to projects.) Be sure to back up before deleting Final Cut Pro from your iPad.
Final Cut Pro for iPad provides several backup features specifically for your Final Cut Pro projects and timelines. In Final Cut Pro for iPad, you can:
Back up a project and all of its media: The best way to back up an entire project, creating a copy of all timelines and source media associated with it, is to export the project. See Export a project. This method gives you the option to include or exclude project media.
Back up or share a project’s media: If you want to create duplicates of a project’s source media for backup purposes, or move the media to another app or device, you can export all project media. See Export a project’s media.
Duplicate a timeline in your project: Duplicating projects and clips is a fundamental technique in your editing workflow. To create a copy of a timeline in a project so that you can experiment with a different edit versions in Final Cut Pro, see Duplicate a timeline.
Import a Final Cut Pro project and its media: To work on a project created on another device or shared by a friend or colleague, you can import it, along with all of its media. See Import projects.
If your subscription to Final Cut Pro for iPad has lapsed, you can still export your projects, media, and finished videos. However, to edit a project, you need an active subscription. See Start or manage a Final Cut Pro for iPad subscription.
Tip: If you use iCloud Backup, media in Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Camera is backed up by default. If you don’t want large media files to be included in iCloud backups, you can turn off iCloud Backup for Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Camera. Go to Settings 
> [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup, tap the name of your device, then turn off the apps you don’t want included in backups. See the Apple Support article What does iCloud back up?
