Adjust a title’s animation in Final Cut Pro for iPad
Many titles in Final Cut Pro for iPad are animated. You can modify a title’s animation, and you can also add animation to static titles.
Note: Animation applied to a title clip affects the entire title clip, rather than individual text layers in a multilayer title clip.
In Final Cut Pro for iPad, open a project.
Tap a title clip in the timeline, then drag the playhead to the beginning of the clip.
You can preview the title’s animation by tapping in the viewer.
Tap Inspect in the lower-left corner of the screen, then tap at the top of the inspector.
Adjust any of the animation controls under Options.
If the title is not animated by default, tap next to Animation Style, then tap an animation option (Slide Right, for example).
To see the result of your changes, drag the playhead to the beginning of the title clip and tap below the viewer.
Animation controls in the inspector vary depending on the title. Common animation controls include:
Animation Style: Sets the behavior of the animated effect. For example, the Essential Rotate title has options for Swivel, Roll, and Cascade.
Build In, Build Out: Turns the animation on or off at the beginning or end of the title.
Speed In, Speed Out: Sets whether the rate of the animation at the beginning or end of the title remains constant or changes.
Fade Duration In, Fade Duration Out: Sets how long it takes for the title to fade in or fade out.
Retime In, Retime Out: Sets the duration of the animation effect at the beginning or end of the title.
Spread In, Spread Out: Sets the smoothness of the transition between each animated text character. Drag the slider to the right to make text transitions (such as a text fade-in) smoother and less abrupt.
You can further customize some of these controls by adding keyframes. Keyframes let you override a setting’s built-in behavior with your own values at specific points in the timeline. See Animate effects with keyframes.
Tip: For best playback quality, render a title clip after you modify its animation.
