Change Profiles Window preferences in Terminal on Mac
Use Window preferences in Terminal to change the title, size, scrollback limit, and other behaviors for a Terminal window profile.
To change these preferences in the Terminal app on your Mac, choose Terminal > Preferences, click Profiles, select a profile, then click Window.
Note: The options you choose in this preference pane apply only to the profile you select. They don’t apply to the Terminal app in general.

Title | To change the title of a Terminal window, enter a name in the field. Use the title option checkboxes to select the information that appears in the title bar of a Terminal window. To display the working directory or document name in the title bar, select “Working directory or document.” Select the Path checkbox to display the directory or document path. To display the active process name in the title bar, select “Active process name.” Select the Arguments checkbox to display arguments in the title bar. To display the name of the running shell command, select the “Shell command name” checkbox. To display the name of the window’s profile, select the “Profile name” checkbox. To display the terminal name, select the “TTY name” checkbox. To display the size of the window, select the Dimensions checkbox. To display the command key you can use to make the window active, select the “Command key” checkbox. | ||||||||||
Window Size | To set the width and height of a Terminal window, enter the number of columns and rows you want. | ||||||||||
Scrollback | To set a limit to the number of rows in the Terminal window that you can scroll back through, click “Limit number of rows to,” then enter the new limit. | ||||||||||
Resume | To restore text when a window is reopened, select “Restore text when reopening windows.” To set a limit to the number of rows that are restored when a window is reopened, enter the number of rows you want restored. To insert a bookmark after the restored rows, select “Insert bookmark after restored text.” | ||||||||||
Minimized Windows | To display information about minimized windows in the Dock, select “Display status and current contents in the Dock.” |
