View and lock students’ screens with Classroom
You can control how and when students can use their device — including sharing files or viewing their screen — to make sure they stay on task.
Note: Depending on how your mobile device management (MDM) solution is configured, you may not be able to perform this task. Contact your MDM administrator and have them review Manage AirPlay and screen view for Classroom in MDM.
View multiple students’ screens
In Classroom , select a class in the sidebar.
Do one of the following:
Select All Students in the sidebar.
Select a specific group in the sidebar.
Manually create a group, then select it in the sidebar.
Click Select in the upper-right corner of the screen, select specific students, then click Done.
In the row of actions, click the View Screens button .
Press Command-Plus (+) to zoom in and Command-Minus (-) to zoom out. You can also use a trackpad or access zoom in and zoom out from the View menu.
When you’ve finished viewing the screens, click the View Initials button .
View a single student’s screen
In Classroom , select a class in the sidebar.
Select the student.
The Actions window appears.
Click the View Screen button .
Press Command-Plus (+) to zoom in and Command-Minus (-) to zoom out. You can also use a trackpad or access zoom in and zoom out from the View menu.
When you’ve finished viewing the screens, click Done.
Lock or unlock multiple students’ screens (nearby classes only)
You can prevent students from using their device by locking it. Locking students’ devices also requires that each student enter their passcode or password after the screen is unlocked.
In Classroom , select a class in the sidebar.
Do one of the following:
Select All Students in the sidebar.
Select a specific group in the sidebar.
Manually create a group, then select it in the sidebar.
Click Select in the upper-right corner of the screen, select specific students, then click Done.
In the row of actions, do one of the following:
Click Lock to lock the screens.
If the screens are already locked, click Unlock to unlock them.
Click Done.
