iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021, Two ports) Audio Board Flex Cable
Before You Begin
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
ESD-safe tweezers
Nylon probe (black stick)
Support wedges
Removal
Use the flat end of the black stick to press and hold the “PUSH” button on the audio board flex cable ZIF connector on the logic board. Then slide the end of the audio board flex cable out of the connector.
Peel up the audio board flex cable from the housing (1) to access the ZIF connector near the edge of the housing.
Use the flat end of the black stick to press and hold the “PUSH” button on the audio board ZIF connector (2) on the housing. Use ESD-safe tweezers to grasp the end of the flex cable and slide it out of the connector (3).
Reassembly
Position the replacement audio board flex cable in the housing.
Use the flat end of the black stick to press and hold the “PUSH” button on the audio board flex cable ZIF connector on the housing. Then use ESD-safe tweezers to slide the end of the flex cable into the connector.
Use the flat end of the black stick to press the “PUSH” button on the audio board flex cable ZIF connector on the logic board. Then slide the end of the flex cable into the connector.
Remove the adhesive backing from the audio board flex cable. Then press along the length of the audio board flex cable to adhere it to the housing.
Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:
