Subscribe to Apple Music on Mac
Apple Music is a streaming music subscription service that lets you listen to millions of songs from the Apple Music catalogue in addition to your music library. As a subscriber, you can listen any time, get personalised recommendations, watch exclusive video content and more.
You can subscribe to Apple Music or to Apple One, which includes Apple Music and other Apple services. See the Apple Support article Bundle Apple subscriptions with Apple One.
Note: Apple Music and Apple One aren’t available in all countries or regions. See the Apple Support article Availability of Apple Media Services.
Subscribe to Apple Music
In the Music app on your Mac, choose Account > Join Apple Music.
Follow the onscreen instructions.
You may be asked to sign in with your Apple ID. If you don’t have an Apple ID, you can create one during setup.
After you become an Apple Music subscriber, you can:
Stream recommended songs on up to 10 computers and devices
Download songs so that you can listen to them even when you’re not online
Play Apple Music radio — stations created by experts that you can listen to all day
Listen to and download songs in lossless audio and Dolby Atmos (spatial) audio
Create an Apple Music profile and then share new music with friends by sharing your playlists and the music you’re listening to
Customise your Apple Music settings, such as notifications
Note: Any music in your music library that isn’t available in Apple Music is automatically uploaded to iCloud, so you can access it from your other computers and devices.
If you’re not a subscriber, you can purchase items from the iTunes Store and add music to your library. To learn how to add other content, see Buy or download music from the iTunes Store and Import songs from CDs.
Cancel or change your Apple Music subscription
In the Music app on your Mac, choose Account > View My Account, then sign in.
You may be asked to sign in with your Apple ID.
In the Settings section, click Manage next to Subscriptions.
Click Edit next to Apple Music or Apple One, then do one of the following:

Share Apple Music
When you subscribe to Apple Music or Apple One, you can use Family Sharing to share Apple Music with up to five other family members. Your family group members don’t need to do anything — Apple Music is available to them the first time they open the Music app after your subscription begins.
If you join a family group that subscribes to Apple Music or Apple One and you already subscribe, your subscription isn’t renewed on your next billing date; instead, you use the group’s subscription. If you join a family group that doesn’t subscribe, the group uses your subscription.
In the Music app on your Mac, do any of the following:
Upgrade to a family subscription: Choose Account > Upgrade to Family, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Add more family group members: Choose Account > Add Family Members, then follow the on-screen instructions. See Add family members to a Family Sharing group.
Manage family sharing purchases: Choose Account > Manage Family, then follow the on-screen instructions. See Change the services family members use in Family Sharing on Mac.
Note: To stop sharing Apple Music with a family group, you can cancel your subscription, leave the family group or (if you’re the family group organiser) stop using Family Sharing.
See the Apple Support article What is Family Sharing? or visit the Family Sharing website.
