You can use Apple TV controls in Control Center on an iOS device. If you have a device with iOS 12 or later, these controls are automatically activated when the device connects with Apple TV, such as during setup or when entering text with the keyboard.
If you have a device with iOS 11, you can activate Apple TV controls manually in Settings on the device.
Add Apple TV controls to Control Center
On the iOS device, go to Settings > Control Center, then tap Customize Controls.
Tap the Add button next to Apple TV Remote in the More Controls list to add it to Control Center.
Open Apple TV controls in Control Center
On your iOS device, swipe to open Control Center, then tap the Apple TV icon .
The controls in Control Center function the same as in the Apple TV Remote app. For more information, see Control Apple TV with the Apple TV Remote app.
