Mac Pro (2023) Locking Ring

Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Torx T8 screwdriver

Note: The logic board can be removed with the speaker and SSD modules installed.

Removal

  1. Use the Torx T8 screwdriver to remove the four 8IP screws (923-03417) from the locking ring. Then remove the locking ring from the top plate and save it for reassembly.

Reassembly

  1. Use the notch in the locking ring as a guide to reinstall the locking ring in the space frame top plate.

  2. Use the Torx T8 screwdriver to reinstall the four 8IP screws (923-03417) into the locking ring.

  3. Place the space frame on its feet to temporarily reinstall the housing.

  4. Ensure that the latch is in the unlocked position. Use the latch to slowly lower the housing over the space frame.

  5. Rotate the latch 90 degrees clockwise to the locked position. Then flip down the latch to ensure that it locks correctly.

  6. If the latch locks correctly, continue to step 7. If it doesn’t lock correctly, remove the housing and the locking ring and repeat reassembly steps 1 through 5. If the latch still doesn’t lock correctly, inspect it for damage. If it’s damaged, replace the housing.

  7. Flip up the latch and rotate it 90 degrees counterclockwise to the unlocked position. Then lift the housing straight up and off the space frame.

Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:
