Mac Pro (2023) Top Input/Output Board Flex Cable
Before You Begin
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)
Nylon probe (black stick)
Torx Plus 5IP 50 mm bit
Removal
Place the space frame on its side to access the top input/output (I/O) board flex cable.
Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to remove the two 5IP screws (923-03420) from the top I/O board connector cowling. Then remove the cowling and save it for reassembly.
Use the flat end of the black stick to lift the three ends of the top I/O board flex cable off the connectors on the I/O board.
Use the flat end of the black stick to loosen the adhesive on the back of the top I/O board flex cable. Then remove the top I/O board flex cable.
Reassembly
Press the three ends of the top I/O board flex cable to the connectors on the top I/O board. Press evenly along the length of each connector. Then press and hold the top I/O board flex cable for 15 seconds to ensure that it adheres to the top I/O board.
Note: If you’re installing a replacement top I/O board flex cable, remove the adhesive backing before adhering the flex cable to the top I/O board.
Position the top I/O board connector cowling over the three ends of the top I/O board flex cable.
Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 11.5 Ncm. Use the adjustable driver and 5IP bit to reinstall the two 5IP screws (923-03420) into the top I/O board connector cowling.
