iMac (24-inch, 2023, Four ports) Low-Speed Flex Cable

Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm) (923-02995)

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Torx Plus 3IP 25 mm bit (923-07593)

Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Removal

 Caution

Don’t bend the logic board when removing or reinstalling the low-speed flex cable.

Note

You can perform this procedure with the logic board placed inside the service part packaging. Otherwise, perform the following steps on an ESD-safe surface.

  1. Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 3IP bit to remove the three 3IP screws (923-05561) from the low-speed flex cable cowling.

  2. Remove the low-speed flex cable to logic board connector cowling and save it for reassembly.

  3. Use the flat end of the black stick to lift the two ends of the low-speed flex cable off the connectors on the logic board.

Reassembly

  1. Gently press the two ends of the low-speed flex cable to the connectors on the logic board.

    •  Caution: Don’t bend the connectors.

  2. Reinstall the low-speed flex cable cowling.

  3. Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 11.5 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and 3IP bit to install the three 3IP screws (923-05561) into the low-speed flex cable cowling.

    • Important: If you’re installing a replacement low-speed flex cable, leave the adhesive release liners in place until you reinstall the logic board and low-speed flex cable in the housing.
