MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2023) Lid Angle Sensor
Before You Begin
Remove the following part before you begin:
Tools
Nylon probe (black stick)
Torque driver (blue, 0.65 kgf cm)
Torx Plus 3IP 44 mm half–moon bit
Torx security bit
Caution
This procedure requires System Configuration. After you’ve completed all removal and reassembly steps, learn how to initiate the System Configuration process.
Removal
Use the blue torque driver and Torx Plus 3IP bit to remove the two 3IP screws (923-06854) from the lid angle sensor connector cowling. Remove the cowling and save it for reassembly.
Use the black stick to lift the end of the lid angle sensor flex cable off the connector.
Use the blue torque driver and the Torx security bit to remove the 1IPR screw (923-06852) from the lid angle sensor flex cable clip.
Remove the lid angle sensor from the top case.
Reassembly
Position the lid angle sensor in the top case.
Position the clip on the lid angle sensor flex cable so the slot and screw hole on the clip are aligned with the pin and screw hole in the top case.
Use the blue torque driver and the Torx security bit to reinstall the 1IPR screw (923-06852) into the lid angle sensor flex cable clip.
Use the black stick to press the end of the lid angle sensor flex cable to the connector.
Position the lid angle sensor connector cowling over the end of the lid angle sensor flex cable. Then use the blue torque driver and Torx Plus 3IP bit to reinstall the two 3IP screws (923-06854) into the lid angle sensor connector cowling.
Reinstall the following part to complete reassembly:
Caution
After you’ve completed all removal and reassembly steps, learn how to initiate the System Configuration process.
If you replaced the lid angle sensor, close the display for 20 seconds when prompted during the System Configuration process. If the display isn’t fully closed during the process, you'll need to install another new lid angle sensor. The computer will play a startup sound (chime) when the process is complete.
