Add and remove audio effects in Final Cut Pro for iPad
You apply audio effects to video clips with audio, standalone audio clips, or the audio components of clips in the timeline.
Apply an audio effect from the browser
In Final Cut Pro for iPad, open a project.
In the timeline, tap the clip you want to modify.
Tap in the toolbar, tap Effects at the top of the browser, then tap Audio (if it’s not already selected).
Swipe up or down in the browser to see thumbnails of audio effects grouped according to category (Spaces, Echo, Voice, EQ, and Levels, for example).
From the browser, do one of the following:
Drag an effect thumbnail over the selected clip in the timeline, and when the clip becomes highlighted, release your finger.
Tap an effect thumbnail, then tap Apply under the browser.
The effect is applied to the clip. (If you don’t hear any change to the clip when you play it in the timeline, you may have to modify the effect settings first. See Adjust audio effects.)
Apply an audio effect from the inspector
You can add two basic audio effects from the inspector: Single Band EQ and Compressor.
In Final Cut Pro for iPad, open a project.
In the timeline, tap the clip you want to modify.
Tap Inspect in the lower-left corner of the screen, then tap at the top of the inspector.
In the Audio Effects section of the inspector, tap , then tap one of the following:
Single Band EQ: A simple equalizer to shape the sound of audio by changing the levels of specific frequency bands. See Final Cut Pro Logic Effects.
Compressor: An audio compression tool to reduce sounds that exceed a certain threshold level and to bring other sounds into focus, while preventing softer parts from becoming inaudible. See Final Cut Pro Logic Effects.
The effect is applied to the clip. (If you don’t hear any change to the clip when you play it in the timeline, you may have to modify the effect settings first. See Adjust audio effects.)
Remove an audio effect
In Final Cut Pro for iPad, open a project.
In the timeline, tap a clip that has an applied audio effect.
Tap Inspect in the lower-left corner of the screen, then tap at the top of the inspector.
Do one of the following:
Swipe left next to the effect name, then tap .
Touch and hold the effect name, then tap Delete.
Temporarily disable an audio effect
In Final Cut Pro for iPad, open a project.
In the timeline, tap a clip that has an applied audio effect.
Tap Inspect in the lower-left corner of the screen, then tap at the top of the inspector.
Do one of the following:
Swipe left next to the effect name, then tap . (To reenable the effect, swipe left, then tap .)
Touch and hold the effect name, then tap Disable. (To reenable the effect, touch and hold the effect name, then tap Enable.)
Tap the effect name, then tap Disable at the top of the inspector. (To reenable the effect, tap Enable.) When you’re finished, tap at the top of the inspector.
Reset an audio effect
If you don’t like the result of an effect adjustment, you can reset the effect to its default setting.
In Final Cut Pro for iPad, open a project.
In the timeline, tap a clip that has an applied audio effect.
Tap Inspect in the lower-left corner of the screen, then tap at the top of the inspector.
Do one of the following:
Touch and hold the effect name, then tap Reset.
Tap the effect name, then tap Reset at the top of the inspector. When you’re finished, tap at the top of the inspector.
