Set the protocol for file sharing on Mac
You can share files using the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Sharing.
Make sure File Sharing is selected, then click Options.
Select “Share files and folders using SMB.”
If you’re sharing files with Windows users, select the On checkbox for each user who will share files from a Windows computer. You may need to enter the password for that user’s account.
Because passwords for some Windows users may be stored less securely, it’s a good idea to deselect the On checkbox next to each account when it’s not in use. Do this before you turn off file sharing on your Mac. Otherwise, the password is still active and stored in a less secure manner.
